Pentagon Reveals Defense Budget Boost for Missile Shield, F-35 Jets
The proposal represents the largest annual rise in military spending since World War II, reflecting an effort to enhance operational readiness and upgrade defense capabilities.
According to statements, the budget allocates $102 billion toward aircraft acquisition as well as research and development, marking a 26% jump compared to the previous year. Steven P. Whitney said the plan significantly increases production targets.
Whitney said the plan ramps up procurement of F-35 fighter jets to 85 aircraft, alongside increased production of F-15EX jets and continued development of next-generation fighter programs, aiming to strengthen air superiority and overall readiness.
The spending blueprint also prioritizes the “Golden Dome” initiative, which focuses on enhancing detection systems and funding advanced interceptors as part of a multi-layered defense network designed to address evolving threats.
In addition, officials highlighted that the proposal includes what they described as the most substantial investment ever made by the US in drone warfare and technologies aimed at countering unmanned systems.
