Arab MK Criticizes Ben-Gvir Over Birthday Cake Controversy
(MENAFN) Arab Knesset member Ahmad Tibi sharply criticized Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his wife on Wednesday, saying the couple “need a psychiatrist immediately,” according to remarks reported by Israeli media.
As stated by reports, the comments came after Ben-Gvir received a birthday cake from his wife that featured a “noose,” in connection with legislation pushed by his far-right Otzma Yehudit party concerning the execution of Palestinian prisoners.
“I must use my additional profession as a doctor, even though this case is not my specialty, this family urgently needs a psychiatrist immediately,” Tibi told a broadcaster.
Tibi further accused the pair of promoting harmful messaging, saying, “These two individuals (Ben-Gvir and his wife) are psychologically disturbed, but this psychological condition will find supporters in Israeli society.”
He added that birthday celebrations are typically associated with positive wishes, but in this case, he claimed the message reflected something entirely different.
“Usually, people wish for a better future and love with a birthday cake, but these people sanctify hatred and death. Therefore, this is in fact a psychological condition that requires urgent intervention,” Tibi said.
